THE STORY OF U United Labor Credit Union was founded in 1987 as a non-profit financial cooperative, created for the sole purpose of serving the financial needs of members of Labor Union Locals and their families. Unlike a bank, the credit union is owned, operated and controlled by our members. Our objective is to give our members an opportunity to save for the future, make intelligent use of credit and use personal financial counseling to effectively manage their money. Because we are a not-for-profit, United Labor has no stockholders to satisfy. Therefore, we return any profits we make back to our members in the form of low-cost loans, higher dividends, better service with fewer fees and free financial education. Members take an active role in the credit union by electing fellow members to serve on the volunteer Board of Directors and other governing committees. Each member has one vote, regardless of how much money he or she may have on deposit.
